Overnight Trip to Cebu

My friend and I had an overnight trip to Cebu last July. We bought our plane tickets and made our hotel reservation months ago. Come July, we’re all set for our short trip to Cebu. :D

We left Manila on schedule and arrived in Cebu at around 9:30am. Fortunately, we were able to check-in earlier than expected at Waterfront in Lahug. We rested for a couple of minutes and started our trip.

We rented a self-driven car and had our EZ map ready for the tour. We did our Cebu Trip on our own that’s why we had our own car to go around the city.

We started off by having lunch and eating Cebu’s famous Lechon at CNT Lechon. Honestly, it was nothing really special. It’s just the same here in Manila but they just put soy sauce and vinegar on their lechon than the usual sarsa, Mang Tomas. J But still, it’s an experience in Cebu.

After lunch, we headed off the Magellan’s Cross. Magellan’s Cross is situated in the middle of the plaza near City Hall. It’s inside a gazebo-like structure. Inside is the replica of the cross brought by Magellan and the ceiling has paintings narrating the start of Christianity in the Philippines.

We consulted our map and decided to go next to Basilica del Minor Sto. Niño. Unfortunately for us, we didn’t notice that the church is just less than a hundred steps from Magellan’s cross. Hahaha It was pretty cloudy that day and when drove around the block going to the church, the rain poured that we had to wait for a while but then decided to go to Casa Gorordo instead.

By the way, on our way to Casa Gorordo we passed by the Heritage of Cebu. I can’t say much about because we just pulled over and took a picture of it without knowing what it really is. Back to Casa Gorordo… It was the residence of Bishop Gorordo. There we toured in his house with their antique things. My friend and I were the only 2 people in the house(museum). I found it really creepy because everywhere I looked were mirrors and saw a reflection of me. The house was pretty old and the floor creeks on every step I make. It really gave me the chills. We later on asked for assistance and the front desk gladly accompanied us and showed us around the house/museum.
Then back we went to Basilica del Minor Sto. Niño and luckily, it stopped raining! First thing we did was light a candle outside and went inside the church. The church was old and had paintings on the ceiling.

We went back to our hotel and rested for a while for the next part of our trip. Off we went to Crown Regency and straight up to the 37th floor for the Sky Experience. We did the Edge Coaster first. Sat down. Buckled up. Tilted. Looked down. Silence. There was no sound coming out from our mouths. We just held on tight and just wished the ride to end. It was the longest 3-4 minutes I could think of. Excitement. Fear. Relief. It was a one time ride and we’re just glad that we made it and experienced it. Fun came later on, I guess. We had a quick break by going to the lounge, viewing the city lights and peeping through the telescopes. After a few minutes, we went downstairs for the Skywalk. Suited up. Buckled up. Now we’re ready for the walk around the building. It was better than the Edge Coaster for me. It was a bit windy but still fun but a bit scary because we’re out there, literally. We walked on glass floors, had our pictures taken and sat on the edge. It was quite an experience. J

Again, we headed back to our hotel and had our buffet dinner at Café Uno. We were so tired that we weren’t able to eat much. We decided to go the Casino and have some fun. We played slots and roulette. After an hour, we went to our room and snoozed off ‘til morning.

Rise and shine, we’re ready to start the day again. We had our buffet breakfast again at Café Uno and got ready to make our last tour at Fort San Pedro. It was like Fort Santiago but smaller. We walked around the structure and had our pictures taken, as always.
Back to the hotel and started fixing our things. We checked out and off we went home to Manila.
